Firecrackers pollute the pond – double deployment of the fire brigade

Actually, rockets and firecrackers are only allowed to be ignited on New Year’s Eve. In Bad Honnef, unknown people have heard loud bangs before – causing two fire brigade operations.

Bad Honnef (dpa/lnw) – New Year’s Eve firecrackers on a frozen pond caused a lot of work for the fire department in Bad Honnef. Passers-by initially called the emergency services because of a strong smell of gasoline, the fire department said. In addition to the remains of firecrackers, a bottle with flammable liquid was also found on the ice surface in Reitersdorfer Park. The emergency services disposed of these on Sunday evening.

On Monday the fire brigade had to be called out again: the ice on the pond had melted and an environmentally harmful oil film had formed on the water. According to information, removing these took around an hour and a half.
