How would Ranni have liked it in Majula?

Even though Dark Souls 2 still divides FromSoftware fans to this day, the coastal village of Majula from the game is generally considered the most popular hub among the Souls community. A mod now even replaces the Round Table Fortress from Elden Ring with the small village on the edge of the cliffs.

We took this as an opportunity to ask you which safe haven of FromSoftware’s Souls games you prefer to make yourself comfortable in. The hubs had a really close race in our survey – and in the end Majula didn’t win!

The survey was a tight box

At first, Majula led the poll for a while, but the top spots kept rotating, always only a few votes apart. However, the dilapidated temple from Sekiro remained far behind throughout the entire duration and the firelink shrine from Dark Souls never made it to the top places, while its counterpart from part 3 also landed in the top three.

We’ll tell you how it all ended here:

Place 7-4

  • 7: Dilapidated Temple (Sekiro): (4%, 54 votes)
  • 6: Firelink Shrine (Dark Souls): (8%, 107 votes)
  • 5: Firelink Shrine (Dark Souls 3): (15%, 189 votes)
  • 4: Nexus (Demon Souls) (15%, 200 votes)

3: Majula (Dark Souls 2) (19%, 244 votes)

In Majula we meet, among other things, the emerald messenger.

In the end, Majula is actually only one vote behind the hunter’s dream from Bloodborne. One of the reasons the hub is so popular in the community is that, as a small village, it is very different from the others and seems particularly cozy for many fans.

For many community members, the very reduced and meditative soundtrack – and the popularity of the emerald messenger – contribute to this.

2: Hunter’s Dream (Bloodborne) (19%, 245 votes)

The Hunter's Dream is, like Yharnam, a peaceful place.

The Hunter’s Dream is, like Yharnam, a peaceful place.

The Hunter’s Dream took second place just ahead of Majula – and you definitely won’t see it rarely in Bloodborne. After all, in the Lovecraft-inspired Souls you can only travel to other areas via the hub.

But at least many of you seem to feel right at home in and around Gherman’s workshop. Here you will also meet the doll and the funny little skeletons who have all sorts of things to sell. Especially in the nightmarish world of Bloodborne, the hunter’s dream represents a pleasant contrast.

1: Round Table Festival (Elden Ring) (20%, 264 votes)

Elden Ring: The launch trailer is here and sets the mood for the dark world

The Round Table Festival is a relatively classic hub that is limited to the interior of a castle. However, there is a lot going on in the mysterious building. Over the course of the game, a lot of NPCs that you previously met in the intermediate land get stranded here.

In addition, Gideon Ofnir is ready to, um – just like an in-game Vaatividya (the most famous Souls lore YouTuber) – share some lore with you.

There are also always one or two surprises when you travel to the hub at different levels of game progress. By the way, in the launch trailer above, the hub was shown at minute 2:18.

It is very possible that for some people who voted, the Round Table Festival was the first Souls hub, after all, many players only discovered the genre with Elden Ring.

And of course it is a very special feeling to discover a safe retreat for yourself for the first time in one of the hostile, very dangerous worlds. Of course, we can only speculate as to whether that played a role. Feel free to tell us more in the comments.

Did you expect this outcome of the survey? Which hub did you choose and why?
