Newport County: Exiles must support themselves in the second division – Bobby Kamwa

Bobby Kamwa says Newport County need to achieve something in League Two this season to reduce the gap to the play-off places.

Thanks to last weekend’s stunning win over MK Dons, the Exiles moved to within five points of the top seven.

The 6-3 win – against a team in play-off competition – meant Newport ended a six-game winning streak in League Two.

However, there have been five draws in that run and striker Kamwa insists Newport can compete with anyone in the fourth tier as they prepare for the trip to Bromley on Thursday December 26 (15:00 GMT).

“We seem to be the underdogs in this league – people don’t really think we can qualify for the play-offs,” Kamwa said.

“But we are now on the right track and just want to climb up the table.

“We all have to believe that we can really achieve something. If you look at the league, there is no team that you would say can compete in the league. Anyone can beat anyone, so let’s just take a look at this and take it to the test.”
