First words

Even though global commitment to the issue of intimate partner violence (IPV) has increased over the years due to political, institutional and associative mobilizations and even though scientific societies have produced specific recommendations, the improvement of emergency care dedicated to victims has evolved too slowly. Being confronted with IPV victims is never trivial and healtheare providers (HCPs) are never comfortable when faced with these situations. What to say? How? Whom to call? How to assess safety? What are my legal duties? All of these are delicate questions. IPV is definitely a complex issue to detect and manage in the emergency environment where dedicated time is a rare asset, intimacy is difficult to provide and emergency staff lack. Hopefully, solutions to improve care at hand.
